Jonah 4
September 2, Year 2
[7] But when dawn came up the next day, God appointed a worm that attacked the plant, so that it withered.
The worm is yet another level in a fractal symbol already seen in Jonah: the sea monster/serpent/ dragon/Satan.
In the context of: death/sea/grave/“pit”/Sheol.
But yet again: It is ultimately God’s creature and servant, in the plan of redemption:
“And the LORD said, ‘You pity the plant…. And should I not pity Nineveh…?’” (10-11)
Thank God for his pity of Nineveh! And of sinners like me! So…
“… as we forgive those who sin against us.”
