Psalm 110
Zion
Read/pray the psalm. (Full text at bottom.)
2 The LORD shall send the scepter of your power out of Zion:
“Rule in the midst of your enemies.”
The psalm connects Melchizedek to David to a future cosmic ruler, one of David’s descendants—Jesus Christ. (See the book of Hebrews.)
But I want to point out, once again, their common locality—“Zion,” a.k.a. Salem, Jerusalem, and New Jerusalem.
First mentioned in Genesis, Revelation says this about it:
The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name. [Revelation 3:12]
So…
I don’t have any tattoos, but have thought about it (or some other permanent marking). You?
If you could have the most beautiful one imaginable, where would it be?
Pray:
"My God, I want to wear your Name, and the name of your city, marking me as your very own."
Psalm 110 Dixit Dominus 1 The Lord said unto my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, * until I make your enemies your footstool.” 2 The Lord shall send the scepter of your power out of Zion: * “Rule in the midst of your enemies.” 3 In the day of your power the people, in holy raiment, shall offer you freewill offerings; * from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth belongs to you. 4 The Lord has sworn and will not recant: * “You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.” 5 The Lord at your right hand * shall smite kings in the day of his wrath. 6 He shall judge the nations; * he shall fill the lands with dead bodies, and strike down heads over many countries. 7 He shall drink from the brook by the way; * therefore shall he lift up his head.
